The civic life in the port city and its adjoining areas became a bit normal in comparison with the last couple of days as there was no heavy rainfall from this morning to noon.
But city residents in the low-lying areas are still reeling under deluge when the city has been experiencing more rainfall since this afternoon.
Chittagong Meteorology office sources said it has recorded around 201 millimetres of rainfall during last 24 hours ending at 12 noon today.
It also forecast heavy rainfall may occur in next 24 hours over the regions in addition to hoisting of cautionary signal number three for maritime ports including Chittagong.
After weeklong dry weather, Chittagong and its adjoining areas experienced heavy rains during the fourth consecutive day.
Civic life came to a standstill when two-thirds of the city area went under knee to waist-down water during the last two days. Meteorology Department said they have measured 853 mm rainfall from Thursday to Monday 12 noon.
