Thousands of sports lovers of Dhaka City gave a warm reception to the members of Bangladesh Women’s Football team. Bangladesh Women’s Football team arrived at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city on Wednesday at 1.45pm. Bangladesh became the champions in the SAFF Women’s Championship defeating hosts and favourites Nepal in the final at the Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal on Monday last.
This is for the first time Bangladesh became the champions of the SAFF Women’s Championship, the most prestigious football competition of the South Asian Region for women.
Students of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan came to the Airport to receive the Tigresses. Besides, a good number of crowd gathered in front of the Airport to accord them warm reception. State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, and the other officials of Sports Ministry and Bangladesh Football Federation received them with floral wreaths. After completing the all sorts of formalities at the Airport, the members of SAFF Women’s Football team rode on an open roof bus to go to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) House, where they stay for their camp. Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) arranged an open roof double decker bus for them. They rode on the bus and brought out a colourful and joyful rally from the Airport to the BFF House. Thousands of football lovers of the City waved them, who were standing on the road to welcome the heroines for an only look. Later, the female booters of Bangladesh reached the BFF House in the evening. BFF boss Kazi Salahuddin gave them warm reception there.
Bangladesh Football Federation announced on Wednesday that it would give Taka fifty lakh to the members of Bangladesh Football team. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) also announced that it would give Taka 50 lakh to them. Wife of Vice-President of BFF Abdus Salam Murshedy announced she would present Taka fifty lakh to them. Besides, Toma Group announced that it would give them Tk 50 lakh.
