Managing Director of Chittagong WASA Engr AKM Fazlullah said the city dwellers of the port city will get water supply round the clock from 2021 .
In the meantime, the ongoing four water projects will be completed, he added. WASA chief disclosed it while addressing the newsmen at Chittagong press club yesterday morning. The WASA chief presented the total picture of the ongoing projects namely – Karnaphuli Water Supply Project, Chittagong Water Supply Improvement & Sanitation Project, Karnaphuli Water Supply Project Phase-2 and Bhandaljuri Water Supply Project. After completion of these project the supply will stand at 43 crores liters perday . The press meet was told that the KWSP work already completed and will start commercial operation from June next . The KWSP is being implemented at a cost of Tk.1,848 crores which will produce about 14 crores liters per day. Sources said test production of KWSP wll begin from April next. CWASA sources said three more projects including KWSP Phase-2 will be implemented by 2021 as these project already approved by ECNEC with cost of Tk.4,491 crores . While asked the WASA Managing Director, he catergorically said all project works of WASA will be completed by 2021 and the city dwellers will get treated water round the clock. He further said after implemention of these projects, all the deep wells in the city will be closed down to sustain the ecological balance .
Among others, Deputy Managing Director(Admn) of WASA Golam Hossain, Deputy Managing Director(Eng) Ratan Kumar Sarkar, Secretary Md. Shamsudoha, Commercial Manager Jahurul Hoque and PRO Kazi Nurjahan Shila were present on the occasion.
