City dwellers are rushing back to their villages with the closure of educational institutions and limited activities at government and private offices amid the fear of coronavirus outbreak.
Many officials and employees of government, semi-government and private offices have chosen to send their families to their village homes for their safety as the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise in the country.
Those crowd together to bus and launch terminals were seen a bit worried thinking whether they are coming in contact to any coronavirus-infected co-passenger.
They were in hurry to get into buses and launches and take their seats. Many of them were seen wearing masks and using hand sanitizer sitting on their seats.
Time will say whether the village or the city is the safest place, but those leaving the capital are hoping to return here soon overcoming all adversities with the situation getting normal.
Meanwhile, the bustling capital city has become almost empty as people are gathering at bus and launch terminals to reach their destinations.
Abul Kalam, a shopkeeper in the city’s Farmgate area, said the city has become empty like it happens ahead of or during the two Eid festivals. “The only difference is that people are moving on road now with the worries of coronavirus instead of having a festive mood,” he observed.
Very few buses, cars, rickshaws and motorcycles were seen plying the city streets in the morning.
Basically, people are not coming out of their homes unless there is any urgent need.
