The city dwellers from different areas of the two city corporations of Dhaka alleged that the cleaners had not removed the total waste. They did their duties less carefully and left one-third of the waste.

“Cleaners come with a truck, collected waste
quickly and left the spot sharply, but the waste was not removed totally. Nearly one-third of the waste remained on the spot. They did their duties as half done. They should clean Dhaka from all the waste,” said Ariful Huq, a shop keeper in Narinda Shah Sheheb Bari Lane.
The similar allegation was made from Jatrabari, Sayedabad, Gendaria, Wari, Dayagonj areas in DSCC jurisdiction.
Some of them said, sacrificial animals’ waste were spreading stink in their areas though the cleaners cleaned two-third of the waste.
Mirpur residents complained that the area remained unclean. There are animals waste piled in Mirpur-12, 10 and other areas.
The pedestrians and shop keepers from Mirpur-12 said, that huge waste was piled on one side of the main road from where was odor spreading in the air.
On the other hand, two city corporations of Dhaka claimed to have removed about 90 percent waste of 23000 tonnes waste of slaughtered cattle within given 24 hours.
The mayors of the both city corporation claimed it in separate press briefing on Thursday.
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC)’s Mayor Sayeed Khokon said that his cleaners removed 90 percent of waste within 24 hours of Qurbani.
DSCC mayor said, “We achieved 90 per cent success. Qurbani ended on Friday. Our cleaners made no mistake to remove the waste.”
The mayor said it while addressing a press briefing at the Nagar Bhaban. He said, “We will present the city dwellers a 100 per cent animal waste free city soon.”
Meanwhile, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Panel Mayor Jamal Mostafa has said the city residents played an important role to escalate the cleaning process and the city achieved nearly 100 percent success in cleaning the city.
The DNCCn panel mayor said it in a press briefing on the city’s head quarter at Gulshan.
The panel mayor said around 2,01,500 animals were sacrificed in DNCC area in the 183 designated spots. He said that more people responded to sacrificing their animals in the designated spots this year.
