City Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury congratulated the Prime Minister on the decision to provide 1 percent of the income money from the Chittagong Port Fund to the Chittagong City Corporation.
In a response yesterday, he said that a portion of the port’s revenue had long been demanded to be given to the City Corporation for the development of Chittagong. After elected mayor, the chairman of Chittagong Port Authority came to the corporation.
Then I raised the issue of paying one to two percent of the port’s income to the corporation. Then he said it is not possible in the port law , rather only the Prime Minister can do that. Finally, the Prime Minister approved the final draft of the Chittagong Port Authority Act 2021.
