Citizen engagement in public procurement, development stressed

 A qualitative assessment government of Bangladesh has been making sustained efforts over the years to bring about a systemic change in the public procurement system.
The Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) under the Ministry of Planning is working as a key institution to regulate procurement laws and to improve the procurement system in the country. The Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) under the Implementation Monitoring & Evaluation Division (IMED) of the Ministry of Planning (MoP) is implementing a World Bank project titled: “Digitizing Implementation Monitoring and Public Procurement Project (DIMAPPP)” is to promote transparency, accountability and efficiency in public procurement by enabling multi-stakeholders’ engagement.
IMED, CPTU in Ministry of Planning its supported by BRAC Institute of Governess and Development arranged a virtual flatfrom discussion with Citizens Engagement in Kishoreganj Forum at Planing Ministry conference room on Thursday.
Secretary in IMED in Planing Ministry Anu Hena Morsheduzzaman attended as chief guest while Director General (DG), CPTU Sohel Rahman presided over.
It was addressed among others by Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Kishoreganj Mohammad Shamim Alam as special guest, CPTU Director & Joint Secretary Aziz Taher khan, Dr.Mirza Hasan, LGED executive engineer Amirul Islam, Public health engineering department in Kishoreganj executive engineer Moshiur Rahman Pakundia Upazila chairman Rafiqul Islam Renu and Senior Journalist & CAB district president Alam Sarowar Tito.
BIGD is implementing a model of citizen engagement in public procurement under DIMAPP in 48 Upazillas across Bangladesh. At least 55 dignified persons including district leave officials were also joining the virtual platform.
