CITF gaining momentum

The month-long 25th Chittagong International Trade Fair has begun from March 19 at Railway Polo ground like every year. The royal Thailand is participating as partner country for 15th time. One of the main characteristics of this year’s fair is Thailand’s participation in it as a partner country. The air-conditioned Thailand pavilion comprises 25 booths.
A total of five foreign countries India, Thailand, China and Iran are taking part in the fair. Different foreign countries and leading companies of those countries will participate in the fair. Besides, the local leading companies of the country taking part in the trade fair with total 37 pavilions. Of these 16 are Premier Gold Pavilions, 5 Premier pavilions, 8 mini mega pavilions, 10 standard pavilions, 16 premier booths, 14 standard booths and IT booths. A total of 450 companies are participating at the CITF 2017.
The month-long Chittagong International Trade Fair (CITF) in port city gained momentum recently. Mahbubul Alam, president of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the organizer of the show, told the Asian Age that many VIP’s, Members of Parliament and elites have visited CITF. They are satisfied over the arrangement of CITF in the port city, he claims.
 “The authorities of CITF particularly the organizing committee took special measures regarding the law and order situation and discipline at the Polo Ground and adjoining areas from very beginning of the trade fair,” he said.
 As a result, people can come to visit the trade fair spontaneously. Besides, the arrangement for female and children are better this year than previous years. So, people and businessmen feel interested to join the fair this year, he pointed out.
Alam said the investors and participants of the partner country Thailand and other countries like India, Pakistan and China etc are very happy to see the spontaneous gathering the people at the fair. “So, I hope that we will be successful for creating interest to the foreign investors for investing here.”
Mahabubul Alam also said, the businessmen of Chittagong as well as all other parts of the country are getting a chance to exhibit their products before the international business community in the CITF.
 “Chittagong Chamber is observing the 25 years of the CITF this year. We started CITF at outer stadium 25 years ago. Now, the CITF has passed its 25 years this year. But, we have no permanent venue. We demanded allocation of a permanent venue for CITF.
Senior Vice President of CCCI and Chairman of CITF 2017 Nurun Newaj Selim said, a temporary police camp has been set up there. The visitors are being checked with metal detectors at the entry points. The ticket price has fixed at Tk 10 and Tk 5 for the adults and children respectively.
