The Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific’s (CIRDAP) Thirty Second Technical Committee Meeting (TC-32) officially opened at Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD) on Wednesday.
Welcoming the representatives of the 15-member state forum of the Asia and Pacific region, Minister for LGRD and Cooperative Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain said the mutual cooperation among the member states would help alleviate poverty in this region.
He said sharing experiences is a must among the member states to alleviate poverty. “We have turned Bangladesh into a lower-middle income country under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Bangladesh would be freed from ultra poverty by 2021”, the minister said.
CIRDAP director general Tevita Gadrulevu Boseiwaqa Taginavulau said the meeting would focus on strengthening poverty alleviation programs by CIRDAP-member countries to provide a better chance for the needy. “Bangladesh has become a role model for development globally,” he said.
