Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon has said, circular bus will be launched in Old Dhaka by this month.
He made the announcement after a meeting with Bus Route Rationalization Committee at Nagar Bhaban in the capital on Monday.
Sayeed Khokon, also convener of the committee, said, circular buses will be launched on trial basis in the last week of this month.
“Activities of the committee halted due to the national election and dengue menace, now the

work is going on in full-swing. I hope, it will be possible to finalise number of bus routes by next March,” he said.
The Mayor said, “A meeting will be held with the transport sector leaders in this month. Then the new bus service implementation will be finalized in March 2020.”
“To bring discipline in transportation, six companies will provide bus service through a franchising system in 20 to 22 routes of Dhaka city,” he said.
On April 3, the DSCC Mayor had said some 4,500 new buses — half of which will be air conditioned — will be introduced in the capital, whereas, all old buses will be removed.
