Laurent Ciman scored the game-winning goal in stoppage time as the Los Angeles FC (LAFC) opened its new stadium in Hollywood fashion on Sunday with a thrilling 1-0 win over the Seattle Sounders.
The Sounders did their best to try and spoil the party at the $350 million Banc of California Stadium, but Ciman was having none of that as he beat goalkeeper Stefan Frei with a long-range blast just before the final whistle.
Tyler Miller posted the shutout in the expansion LAFC’s first home game by making three saves on the night in front of a crowd of about 22,000.
