Tonu murder: CID submits 2nd autopsy report to court

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) submitted the second autopsy report of the slain Comilla Victoria
college student Sohagi Jahan Tonu to a court here on
Monday.
Gazi Mohammad Ibrahim, CID inspector, Comilla, submitted the report to the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Muntahim Billah at noon. Earlier, on Sunday, the Forensic Department of Comilla Medical College Hospital revealed the second autopsy report of Tonu where the doctors did not find any specific cause of the death of Tonu but got the ‘sign of sexual intercourse’.
On June 7, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) submitted the full report of the DNA test, conducted on Tonu’s body, to the medical board formed for her second autopsy. Earlier, a court here ordered the CID to give the DNA report of the two samples-teeth and spermatozoa-out of total seven samples to the medial board following pleas filed by the board.
On March 30, Tonu’s body was exhumed from her grave for collecting DNA sample, fresh postmortem and proper investigation into the case. Later, members of Crime Scene Unit of CID brought the DNA and other samples of teeth, nails and body to Dhaka for examination.
On April 4, doctors of Forensic Department at Comilla Medical College Hospital in their first autopsy, conducted by Dr Sharmin Sultana, did not find any cause of death or any evidence of rape before Tonu’s death.
