CID gets new chief; reshuffle in police admin

The government has appointed Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Shafiqul Islam as the new chief of Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The Ministry of Home4 Affairs on Thursday issued a gazette notification, undersigned by Deputy Secretary Dhananjay Kumar Das, to this effect.
Shafiqul was posted at the headquarters before being appointed to head the CID.
Apart from this transfer, another three top police officials have been promoted.
Chief of River Police Deputy Inspector General of Police
Mohammad Maruf Hasan was promoted to the post of Additional Inspector General of Police and has been appointed as the rector of Police Staff College in Dhaka.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun was promoted as Additional Inspector General of Police and has been transferred to police headquarters from Dhaka range police.
Deputy Inspector General Police Barrister Mahbubur Rahman was promoted to the post of Additional IGP and has been transferred to highway police from the headquarters.
In yet another major reshuffle, two other police officials were transferred on Thursday.
DIG Tawfiq Mahbub Chowdhury of Special Branch (SB) of Dhaka was transferred to the police headquarters and DIG Habibur Rahman from headquarters to Dhaka range.
