Joint General Secretary of ruling Awami League Mahbubul Alam Hanif on Monday urged the illegal arms holders of Chittagong Hill Tract (CHT) areas to avoid the path of arms and return to normal life.
Attending a rally of Awami League at Indigenous Auditorium in the Sadar Upazila as chief guest Hanif said “The government will not tolerate terrorism and militancy at any cost, government is
committed to eliminate it.”
He also directed the party’s local leaders and activists to continue their organisational work in hilly region without fear, adding that “If any of AL members is attacked during the organizational work in Hill Tract, the attacker will be dealt with iron hand and no one will be spared.”
Hanif also warned the illegal arms holders that the law enforcers will take legal step against them if they do not return to normal life.
Local leaders of 10 upazilas in the district were present, among others, in the rally.
