Christmas celebrated

The Christian community in Bangladesh on Friday(December 25) celebrated the holy Christmas, marking the emergence of their prophet Jesus Christ amid festivity and religious fervour.
According to Christian faith the Christmas, the biggest Christian festival is also marks the celebration of Jesus’ rebirth and an occasion to renew human relationships with God.
Virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus Christ on the day, which is a public holiday in Bangladesh and most other
countries of the world. President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued messages greeting the Christians of the country and elsewhere.
Ringing of church bells in the midnight marks the advent of the day when the followers of the faith welcome it with carols assembling in churches and other such venues.
Churches and adjoining areas were decked out with colourful tiny blinking lights while Illuminated Christmas trees placed with a star standing right on top as Santa Claus was seen handing out Christmas gifts to the children.
President Hamid hosted a reception for the members of the community earlier in the morning at Bangabhaban.
