A court in Khulna on Thursday has sentenced two people to death in the murder case of Chittaranjan Bain, an English lecturer of Shaheed Sheikh Abul Kashem Memorial High School. At the same time, the court acquitted the remaining eight accused.
Khulna Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Judge Saifuzzaman Hiro handed over the verdict on Thursday afternoon.
The death sentence convicts were – Raju Munshi alias Galkata Raju and Tuhin Ghazi. Among them, Raju Munshi is currently absconding.
According to court sources, lecturer Chittaranjan Bain was killed on January 15, 2017, when the accused raided his house for the purpose of robbery. Later, they looted cash, gold ornaments and fled.
The next day, deceased Bain’s younger brother filed a case accusing the unidentified persons. Police later identified the accused during the investigation and arrested them.
Khulna Police Station SI Mohammad Kamal Uddin, investigating officer of the case, filed a chargesheet in the court against 10 accused on October 12 of the same year.
