Chittagong District team became champions in the Walton Inter-District & Division Basketball Competition beating Dhaka District team by 64-56 points in the final at Dhanmondi Basketball Gymnasium on Saturday.
The winners led the first half by 33-26 points.
Romel of Chittagong District team scored 19 points and his teammate Intezar scored 15 points.
On the other hand, Sajid of Dhaka District team scored 18 points and his teammate Shuvo scored 15 points.
After the final match, Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, MP, the chief guest at the prize-giving ceremony, Operative Director (Head of Games & Sports Department) of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn, the special guest and President of Bangladesh Basketball Federation and President of Bangladesh Medical Association and former parliament member Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin distributed the prizes among the winners.
Chittagong Division team, the champions of the competition were awarded Taka thirty thousand, while Dhaka Division, the runners-up of the meet got Taka twenty thousand.
The members of the champions team were given an iron each, while the members of the runners-up team got a charger light each.
Vice-President of Bangladesh Basketball Federation (BBF) Mainul Ahsan Monju, General Secretary of BBF and Secretary General of Asian Basketball Federation Lieutenant Commander (Retd) AK Sarker, Treasurer of the Federation Wasif Ali and Member Secretary of the Tournament Committee Mostafa Jabed Mohiuddin were present on the occasion.
