Sabina Yasmin is a living legend in the country’s music arena. For many years her songs inspired us. She has not only rendered patriotic songs but also gave her voice for play-back songs. On the occasion of coming Eid, Bangladesh Television has taken initiative to arrange a solo musical show of Sabina Yasmin. Under the planning and coordination by Director General of BTV Harun Ar Rashid a special musical programme titled Chirodiner Sabina will be telecasted on BTV in Eid-ul-Azha where 10 songs of the singer will be presented.
The programme will be aired after Eid day at 7:00pm on BTV, said Surath Kumar Sarkar, Deputy Director General of Programme of BTV said this yesterday.
He also said that Sabina took part in recording for the programme on August 20. The programme will be hosted by noted writer and editor of daily Kaler Kontho Imdadul Haque Milon.
While talking about the programme Sabina told this correspondent, “In last year Eid-ul-Fitr, I performed in a BTV’s show. After one year break, I again took part in BTV’s any programme. I have liked its set design. Overall arrangements were good.”
Till now Sabina Yasmin has recorded 16 thousand songs. In 1971, a song titled Jonmo aamar dhonno holo maago rendered by Sabina and written by Naim Gohor and composed by Azad Rahman inspired us during the war of independence. She got National Film Awards for 13 times till now. She got Ekushey Award in 1984 and Independence Award in 1996. In 2002, Bangla Academy gave her honourary fellowship.
