Popular band Chircutt is in Sri Lanka now to perform. The band’s vocal, Sharmin Sultana Sumi, shared their experience through her social media account. She thanked Bangladesh high commission in Sri Lanka recently for arranging such a trip for them.
“They have been doing a great job here to spread the glory of International mother language day. We have been invited to say a few words to the mind blowing ‘Mini Children Outreach festival’-a concern of Galle lit fest today.
Over 300 children participated there and they painted words from their own language on a big canvas for the upcoming International mother language day. We told them to show respect to their own language and culture that symbolize their identity.
At last, an amazing children orchestra team from “music project” performed so brilliantly for us. Honored,” she posted on January 26.
On January 28, the band got appreciation from Sri Lankan Prime minister Ranil Wikrememasinge.
Sumi said, “Surprisingly Sri Lankan Prime minister Ranil Wikrememasinge enjoyed our performance today with the respected guests at the Sun house at our last show of Galle Lit Fest’s Mayhem past midnight. Such an honour that our honourable ambassador in Sri Langka Mr. Riaz Hamidullah was also present there. It’s a huge honour that the SL PM told good things about our performance to our Bangladeshi ambassador. Ambassador was proud. And the audience went crazy! We’re very happy.”
Chirkutt performed at the very prestigious “Fairway Galle Literary Fest-2018” in Sri Lanka at its opening ceremony on 24th January and on 26th January at its 2nd show.
On 28th, Chircutt performed at “Folk fest-Colombo” at Viharamahadevi Amphitheatre organized by Sri Lanka-Norway music cooperation. Sumi was amazed to get such an honour to have the opportunity to share the grand stage with so many amazing writers and poets of the world.
