The first consignment of China’s relief for the Rohingya refugees, who have fled to Bangladesh amid persecution in Myanmar’s Rakhine State since August 25, arrived here on Wednesday.
A cargo flight of China with 57.03 tonnes relief materials arrived at Shah Amanat International Airport in the morning. Habibur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner, received the relief items from Chinese Embassy official Jong Giagu.
The relief includes 2,200 tents, said Habibur. China will provide some 150 tonnes of relief materials for the Rohingya refugees, who have taken shelter in Bangladesh, in phases.
