A two-member delegation led by Prof Dr Ma Lin, Deputy Director of Beijing Foreign Studies University, China on Wednesday called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique at the latter’s office of the university.
Other member of the delegation was Yang Wei Ming, Coordinator of Bangla Service of the Chinese International Radio.
DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain and Associate Prof of the Department of Accounting & Information Systems Dr Mizanur Rahman were present on this occasion.
During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest specially the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes by the University of Dhaka and Beijing Foreign Studies University of China.
The Chinese delegation informed the VC that they would establish Bangla Department at the Beijing Foreign Studies University in the coming year.
Therefore, they seek help and cooperation from DU authorities for introducing this course.
Vice-Chancellor assured the delegation of all possible supports and cooperation to introduce the course. They also agreed to sign a “Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)” in this regard soon.
Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked the Chinese delegation for taking initiative to establish Bangla Department at their university. He also hoped that the friendly ties between the Bangladesh and China would be strengthened further in the days to come by this initiative.
