China to help set up medical varsities, burn instt: Minister

China will provide assistance in setting up two medical universities and a burn institute of international standard in Bangladesh.
This was disclosed to journalists by Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim after discussions with his Chinese counterpart Wang Li Pen on the sidelines of a programme.
The programme was organised by Partners in Population and Development (PPD) – an inter-governmental initiative aimed at improving South-South cooperation in the areas of reproductive health, population and development on Friday at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital.
Nasim also said they had discussed the possibility of providing Chinese scholarships to Bangladeshi students studying there. The Bangladesh minister also proposed export of pharmaceuticals to China.
The Chinese side assured financial assistance for establishing the PPD headquarters in Bangladesh, too.
Earlier, the Bangladesh health minister met the Indian health minister and discussed issues of mutual interest including cooperation in traditional medicine.
