Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Zhang Zuo on Thursday said his country wants to enhance its bilateral ties with Bangladesh on all fronts in the coming days.
The Chinese Ambassador made the remarks while addressing a function – “Happy Chinese New Year Gala 2019” – at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the evening.
The Chinese Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Bangladesh China Friendship Centre and Department of Culture and Tourism of Yunnan Province of China jointly arranged the event.
Ambassador Zuo said friendship between the people of the two countries is the key to state-to-state relationship, and their heart-to-heart communication contributes to deeper friendship between the two countries.
He said cultural exchange is an important bond through which friendly ties between Bangladesh and China could be developed and enhanced on all fronts.
Cultural exchange is a key part and solid foundation for China-Bangladesh strategic partnership of cooperation in the new era, he said.
“I hope the people from our two countries could continue to strengthen
communication,” said Ambassador Zuo adding that they would continue to deepen mutual understanding, expand cooperation and friendship so as to further deepen the friendly ties between Bangladesh and China.
Chinese New Year is the most important traditional festival for the Chinese nation, with a history of over 4000 years.
“But this is still most vivid manifestation of traditional Chinese culture all over the world,” he said.
This gala festival is staged in over 400 cities of more than 130 countries to spread happiness in a harmonious atmosphere to convey the New Year message from China to all.
Ambassador Zuo said this festival will feature some haunting performances of dance and acrobatics of Bangladesh and China.
Cultural Secretary Roxana Malek, and Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky also spoke on the occasion.
A total of 1000 people from different ministries, departments, diplomatic missions enjoyed the gala night of Chinese New Year.
The programme featured a joint performance by the Yunnan Ethnic Village Plateau Art Troupe and acrobatic troupe of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and a photo exhibition and exhibition of cultural heritage of Yunnan Province. The Chinese Embassy will also hold more programmes to celebrate the New Year in major cities of Bangladesh.
