Staff Reporter:The man who returned from China was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Saturday has not been found to have been infected with coronavirus according to medical test reports.
Professor Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora, the Director of Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research, confirmed it on Sunday in a press briefing in her office.
“The man in question Tasdid Hossain, 56, was tested if he was infected with the virus or not during his admission to the hospital,” said the IEDCR Director.
She said that the man was only suffering from breathing complexity.
Tasdid was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital’s corona unit on Saturday after his return from China.
But he was only suffering from a respiratory problem rather than from cold or fever at the time of his admission, said Dr. Flora.
“He was kept under observation and his samples were taken for tests. The results are not out yet, but he is doing better now,” the IEDCR Director said.
Tasdid, a man from Mirganj village of Domar Upazila in Nilphamari districts came back home from China on January 29.
He had since been living with his family in their village home.
Tasdid’s family sources said that he suddenly fell sick on Saturday morning and was rushed to the hospital amid concerns over the deadly coronavirus.
The Novel corona virus has killed over 811 people in China so far.
