After Russia, China now wants to join hands with Bangladesh for building its future nuclear power plant as China believes Bangladesh’s electricity demand will ‘dramatically’ increase in the coming years with its growing industrialisation.
“The electricity demand in Bangladesh will increase dramatically in line with its rapid development. We’ve a lot of scope for cooperation,” Vice President of Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC) Hu Weidong told UNB while responding to a question.
While interacting with visiting journalists from Bangladesh and Nepal at his office, he hoped Bangladesh will consider China in thinking its second nuclear power plant, and described why
electricity demand will dramatically increase in the country, including the relocation of Chinese textile companies to Bangladesh.
DEC, with its headquarters in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province, named as the ‘Heavenly Land on Earth’ and the ‘Hometown of Giant Panda, is one of the largest backbone enterprise groups under the direct administration of Chinese central government.
