Fair price in market: Chilli growers happy in Rangpur

Chilli growers at different areas in the district have become ecstatic as they are getting good profit by selling their produces in markets.
Sources said that the prospect of spicy crops is bright in different upazilas of the district including Kawnia and Gangachara.
 The atmosphere, moderate rainfall and soil of the region are also congenial to the farming of different varieties of spicy crops including Chilli.
 Presently, per maund (40 Kg) of chilli is being sold at Tk 1050 to Tk 1100 in different markets, sources said.Due to low production cost, good profit and easy farming process its cultivation is on the rise in different char areas as well.
This spicy crop is being cultivated abundantly at Char Thakurdas, Char Prannath, Char Nazirdaho, Char Pallimari, Char Chatura, Char Arajihorisswar, Char Dhusmara, Char Rajib, Char Pajorvanga, Char Gonai, Char Bishwanath in Kawnia upazila and Char Morneya and Char Mahipur in Gangachara upazila, sources further said.Visiting some areas this found that the growers passing busy time in harvesting their produce with much delight.
Rashed Mia a cultivator of char Morneya village of Gangachara upazila told The New Nation that he cultivated Chilli on 25 decimals of land this season. He has already earned Tk 30,000 as profit from the sale of his produce and is expecting more profit during rest of the season.
He sold per maund chilli at Tk 1500 few days ago though at present its price has come down to Tk1100 per maund, but still price is satisfactory, he also said.
 Nur Mohammad, another farmer of Char Thakurdas village in Kawnia upazila told The New Nation that he earned Tk 20,000 so far by selling chilli cultivated on 20 of his land this season.
He is optimistic of earning more profit this season. According to DAE Dr Saruruh Hak , Rangpur official sources cultivation of chilli is easier and less costly compared to other crops and the growers get good profit from its sale.
 Owing to good profit its cultivation is on the rise across the district. The department is providing adequate advices and assistances to the growers in order to enhance its yield, sources added.
