Child’s body in travel bag identified

The ill-fated boy, whose body was found inside a travel bag in a passenger bus at Banani in the city on Monday night, has been identified as Shahidul Islam Imon, aged 6.
Father of the victim Md Aftab Uddin identified the body of his son at Dhaka Medical College Hospital [DMCH] on Tuesday afternoon.
“Imon went mission on March 15. A few hours after his missing, an unidentified person ringed through the cell phone of Md Shahkil, son of the house owner and demanded Tk 2 lak ransom. But they killed Imon before elaborating where and how
the ransom money will be given.” Imon’s father is a trader of raw goods. His mother is a garment worker. Imon was their only son. Their village home is in Ninguary under Gaforgaon upzila in Mymensingh district. They lived in a tenant house at Mogalkhan area of Joydevpur.
Meanwhile, the police failed to ascertain the motive behind the murder after abduction.
Bhuiyan Mahbub Hasan, officer-in-charge of Banani Police Station said, “The police recovered the body of a minor boy stuffed in a travel bag at Banani in Dhaka. The bus operates on the Uttara-Savar route via Gabtoli in the capital.”
Police suspect that some people left the bag and got off the bus. The police seized the bus and picked up its driver and helper.
