545 govt primary schools abandoned in Khulna Div: Children attending classes under open sky

At least 545 government primary schools at ten districts of Khulna Division have been declared abandoned as they are risky ones. Around 90 thousands kids are being compelled to attend classes under open sky without getting any other alternatives, sources said.
Among the risky schools there are 105 in Khulna, 81 in Bagerhat, 76 in Satkhira, 49 in 35 in Kushtia, 14 in Meherpur, 32 in Chuadanga, 49 in Jessore, 31 in Magura, , 78 in Narail and 44 government primary schools in Jhenidaha district, according to sources.
 Around 90 thousands children of these schools have been attending classes under open sky for a long time as their school buildings are dilapidated and risky ones. For this reason they are being compelled to face different kinds of difficulties. Studies are being hampered. On a recent visit, this correspondent found that kids are attending classes at Anandanagar government school in Rupsha upazila of Khulna district as their school buiding was declared as abandoned.
Md. Robiul Islam, Headmaster of the school said, at the end of 2015 the school became unusable and in the beginning of 2016 it was declared as abandoned. Since that period, classes are being taken under open sky from infant to class five.
A total of 170 students of the school are being compelled to suffer a lot, because during sun and rain unbearable situation prevails, he added. The headmaster said adding that they got an allotment of a tin-shed school works of which is going on.
Prof. Sadhon Ranjon Ghosh, a notable educationist of Khulna ( Former Principal of Govt. B.L. College) said, The government is expanding helping hands for the development of primary education by giving different supports including books giving free of cost and scholarship. But it is a matter of great regret that some of our kids are attending classes under open sky due to risk school buildings at different places.
Dr. M Fariduzzaman, associate professor of Psychiatrics department of Khulna Medical College said, due to non availability of proper environment of giving education, our kids feel uneasiness to take education.
Parvin Jahan, Primary education officer of Khulna said, List of risky school buildings were sent to the Ministry of education, but it is unknown to her when the problem would be solved.
Due to classroom crisis, children’s education is hampering, of course, she expected that the new school buildings would be received within a short period of time.
