A 9-year-old child was raped in a room inside the Savar Model Police Station compound after being tempted by chocolate. Police arrested a broom sweeper named Sheikh Rustam Ali (60) and sent him to court.
Savar Model Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Nabi Hossain confirmed the matter on Tuesday night. Earlier, the incident took place in the conference room of Savar Model Police Station on April 02 in the afternoon.
The mother of the victim filed a case in this incident. The accused Sheikh Rustam Ali is the son of Nuru Ali of Arkandi village under Baliakandi police station in Rajbari district. He worked as a sweeper in Savar police station for 15 long years. Tajuddin used to live in a rented house behind the Savar Girls School.
According to the victim’s family, a 9-year-old child student was living with his family in Savar Model Police Station area. Sheikh Rustam Ali, a sweeper of Savar Model Police Station, took the child to the conference room of Savar Model Police Station on the afternoon of 02 April when he was walking around the police station. He was later raped there. When the child went home and told the family about the incident, the victim’s mother lodged a complaint at night. The accused was later arrested from the police station area and sent to court the next day for remand. After the hearing, the court granted him one day remand.
After remand, the court sent him back to jail.
Investigating officer of the case and Sub-Inspector (SI) of Savar Model Police Station Nabi Hossain said a case has been registered in this regard. The incident took place in a room of a pond inside the police station compound. He used to work on outsourcing basis in Jharudar police station. He has been arrested. He is in jail now.
