A fourth grader has allegedly been raped after she was forced to watch pornography in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur.
The incident took place at Uttar Kholapara village on Tuesday afternoon.
Confirming the matter, Kaliganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Mizanul Haq said the girl, 10, was sent to the One-stop Crisis Centre of Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College and Hospital.
A case was filed against the accused, Sujan Sheikh, 30, a battery-run autorickshaw driver by profession, he added.
Father of the rape survivor said her daughter went to dry wet clothes in a field adjacent to their house in the afternoon.
At that time, Sujan, a father of two children, grabbed her by the face and took her forcibly to an abandoned house in the forest next to the field.He then intimidated and forced the girl to watch pornography and raped her.
“As I could not locate her in the house, I went to the field,” the father said.
“Hearing her screams, I rushed to the abandoned house and rescued my daughter.”
He said Sujan got into a scuffle with him and fled the scene as he tried to catch the accused.
OC Mizanul said the police are conducting drives to arrest the accused.
