A teenage girl has been saved from child marriage following the intervention of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) at Bahadurpur village of Sadar upazila on Monday.
The rescued girl was identified as Rehana Begum, 16, daughter of Tosim Mia of Bahadurpur village.
Rehana was scheduled to get married off to Nazir Mia, 25, son of Dhonai Mia of Punoi village in Baniachong upazila in Habiganj.
Tipped off, a team of law enforcers led by UNO Md Moniruzzaman and Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Model Police Station conducted a drive at the wedding spot and prevented the marriage from going ahead.
