A child died and another one became missing after a passenger carrying trawler capsized on Tulatoli River under Bakerganj upazila of Barishal district on Monday night.
The dead victim was identified as Surjya Chandra Shil, 18 month, of Kalaskathi village under Bakerganj upazila of the district.
Abul Kalam, officer in charge of Bakerganj police station, said the trawler carrying at least 40 passengers was going to Kalaskathi from Sahebganj about 7.15 pm.
When the ill-fated trawler started journey from the station, another passenger carrying trawler trying to anchor at that stoppage hit that from opposite direction.
