A child was drowned in the water of a pond while returning home from a grocery shop in Bagbari village of Longair union of Gafargaon upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased was Qayyum (5) is the son of Majnu Mia and the grandson of martyred freedom fighter Mahar Ali.
Father of the deceased Majnu Mia said, I bought chocolate for my son from the shop next to the house. After I sent my son home alone because I had work to do. The boy slipped in the pond and drowned on his way home. As he did not return home for a long time family member started searching. Later, Qayyum’s body was recovered by searching the pond water.
Up Chairman Abdullah Al Amin Biplob concerned the news and said very sad incident. This incident has cast a shadow of grief on the family.
