Chigumbura snatches victory for Zimbabwe

A match-winning unbeaten knock by Elton Chigumbura saw Zimbabwe to keep their super ten berth alive with comfortable five wickets victory over the United Arab
Emirates (UAE) in their last group B qualifying round match of the ICC T20 Word Cup held on Friday at the Sylhet Stadium.
Chasing the UAE’s 116 runs, Zimbabwe strolled into the target making for the loss of five wickets.
The win lifted Zimbabwe’s net run-rate above Ireland’s, moving the attention firmly to the Ireland v Netherlands match.
In a must-win match, Zimbabwe found themselves in a spot of bother more than once against the UAE, but Elton Chigumbura’s belted a quickfire 53 from No. 6 to complete the chase in 13.4 overs.
Manjula Guruge was the most successful bowler for the UAE taking two wickets for 18 runs.
Earlier, the United Arab Emirates managed to score a small total of 116 for 9 from their allotted 20 overs, after they were forced to bat first by Zimbabwe.
Swapnil Patil top scored with 30 runs while Khurram Khan added 26 for the UAE.
Sean Williams was the pick of Zimbabwe bowler taking three wickets for 15 runs. He was well supported by Sikandar Raza and Tendai Chatara, who bagged two wickets each giving away 15 and 21 runs respectively.
