Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain’s father Advocate Syed Mustafa Ali died on Tuesday afternoon. He was 94.
Syed Musatafa Ali breathed his last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in Dhaka at 3:45 pm, Supreme Court’s Registrar General Dr Md Zakir Hossain said.
He was suffering from old age complications, the SC Registrar General said.
His first namaz-e-janaza was being held on the Tiptop mosque premises, Kakrail in the city, after the Esha prayer on Tuesday, said Mohammad Saifur Rahman, Special Officer of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court. His second namaz-e-janaza will be held on the Cumilla Bar Association premises today (Wednesday) morning.
The deceased will be buried in the graveyard of his Devandar village in Cumilla’s Nangolcot upazila today, Dr Md Zakir Hossain added. Law Minister Anisul Huq expressed deep shock at his death.
