At the weekend on Friday, the price of broiler chicken increased in the capital’s kitchen to Tk 165-170 per kilo from Tk 160 to 155 selling a week ago.
On the other hand, within a week, the price of ripe tomato has fallen massively to Tk 60-80 from Tk 100 to 120, while potato is being sold at Tk 30-35.
The price of Sonali chicken (popularly known as Pakistani Cock), however, increased a bit selling at Tk 270-200 against Tk 250-270 a week ago. Layer chicken price, nonetheless, remained stable with Tk 220-230 per kilo.
On the other hand, the price of onion remained unchanged selling at Tk 60-80 (based on quality). The new onion is being sold at Tk 40-50 per kilo.
Capital’s Khilgoan kitchen market chicken trader Zahirul Islam said, Boiler chicken price has been rising in the wholesale market for two weeks. The supply of boiler chicken is less than the demand. That is why prices are rising. The price of golden chicken follows.
The price of egg remained stable with Tk 100-105 (per dozen). The price of vegetables in the market is showing lower trend as winter vegetables has started to stalk in the market.
After visiting the vegetable market it was seen that old bean was being sold at Tk 30-40, while fresh at Tk 60-80. Carrot is being sold by decreased price of Tk 40 to 60 per kilo The French is being sold at Tk 50-70, Cauliflower at Tk 30-40 and Cabbage at Tk 30-40.
Karwan Bazar business trader Md Nur Alam said the supply of winter vegetables in the market is constantly increasing. New arrived tomato has appeared. Our idea
is that in a few days the prices of all kinds of vegetables will go down further.
In the fish market, Rohit and Carp are being sold at Tk 250-350, Walking fish at Tk 500-600, Telapia and Pangas at Tk 150-170.
Besides, a Hilsha weighing one and a half kilogram is being sold at Tk 1,000-1200 per kg while small size at Tk 500-600 only, while shrimp at Tk 600-650 only.
