Like other organisations Chhayanaut observed the International Mother Language Day with due solemnity at its main auditorium in Dhanmondi in the city on February 21 at 6.30pm.
A total of four songs penned during the Pakistani regime were selected for rendition at the event which was titled Ekush-Er Shraddhargha. The songs were presented in group performance by both young and elders.
The event started with Ora Amar Mukher Bhasha Kaira Nite Chai. Child artistes and present apprentices of Chhayanaut voiced the song through their sweet innocence compelling it to reawake the pains of losing one’s mother tongue after more than half a century.
Abdul Latif’s appealing but spirit provoking song proved to be effective though so much time has elapsed.
Then came the fiery song Manush Ho, Abar Tora Manush Ho.
The song may seem too matured for child singers did not leave much anguish off compared with the original rendition.
Then started the session for the rather elderly people. This group sang softer songs compared with their younger compatriots as they echoed the tunes of ?Milit Praner Kolorob-E and Rokto Shimul Tapta Palash Dilo Dak. A documentary movie was also screened at the event.
