Chevron constructing new school building in Bibiyana

The President of Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and Production Bangladesh, Melody Meyer, recently laid the foundation stone of a new building for Nadampur High School, located near Chevron’s Bibiyana Gas Plant. The construction cost for the first floor of the proposed five-storey structure has jointly been borne by Chevron and some of its master contractors engaged during the Bibiyana Expansion Project. This floor will house three classrooms for up to 150 students and a teachers’ common room, said a press release on Thursday.
Chevron will be contributing 68 percent of the construction costs with the remainder being provided by eight master contractors.
Basic Engineering Ltd, Dipon Group, MAS, Mir Akhter Hossain Ltd (MAHL), Mir Traders, Pipeline Engineers & Associates Ltd (PEAL), Pipeliners, and Plexal Group are among the contractors. Addressing a function on the occasion, the Chevron Asia Pacific chief said the US firm has a longstanding association with Nadampur High School since the start of the Bibiyana Gas Field’s development in 2006.
Managing Director for Chevron Asia South, Brad Middleton; President of Chevron Bangladesh, Kevin Lyon; External Affairs Director of Chevron Bangladesh Naser Ahmed; Abdul Munim Chowdhury Babu, MP; and Nabiganj upazila chairman Advocate Alamgir Chowdhury were, among others, present at the function.
