Bangladesh open chess team beat Sri Lanka by 3-1 points in 9th round games of the open section of 41st World Chess Olympiad now being held in Tromso, Norway.
In the 9th round games held Monday last, IM Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagar beat Perera WCC and GM Niaz Murshed beat Alahakoon Isuru of Sri Lanka. GM Abdullah al Rakib split points with Kurukulasuriya Prasanna and GM Enamul Hossain Razib drew with Galapaththi Chinthaka Anuruddh of Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh Open team earned 10 match points and 20.5 game points after 9th round matches.
In the women’s section, Bangladesh women’s team beat Honduras by 4-0 points.
WIM Shamima Akter Liza beat Ortiz Katherine Berenice, WFM Nazrana Khan Eva beat Ortiz Rosa Daniela, WIM Rani Hamid beat Fernandez Mirna Graciela and WFM Zakia Sultana beat Ramos Donaire Maria Pradi of Honduras.
Bangladesh women’s team earned 8 match points and 19 game points out 9 matches.
