Chess teams lose again in Chess Olympiad

Bangladesh open chess lost to 20 seeded team’s Peru by 1-3 points on 5th round games in the Open Section of the 41st World Chess Olympiad now being held in Tromso in Norway.
In the 5th round open section games held Wednesday last, GM Ziaur Rahman (Rating-2523) split points with GM Granda Zuniga Julio E (Rating-2663) and GM Abdullah Al Rakib (Rating-2522) drew with GM Cordova Emilio (Rating-2629) of Peru. GM Enamul Hossain Razib lost to GM Cori Jorge (Rating-2630) and IM Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagar (Rating-2418) lost to GM Cruz Cristhian (Rating-2553) of Peru.
Bangladesh open team secured 5 match points and 10 game points after 5th round matches.
In the women’s section, Bangladesh women’s team lost to Iceland by 2.5-1.5 points in their 5th round games.
Sharmin Sultana Shirin (Rating-1984) won against Johannsdottir Johanna Bjorg (Rating-1862) while WIM Rani Hamid split points with Thorsteinsdottir Hallgerdur (Rating-1982). WIM Shamima Akter Liza (Rating-2147) lost to WGM Ptacnikova Lenka (Rating-2273) while WFM Zakia Sultana (Rating-1964) lost to Finnbogadottir Tinna Kristin (Rating-1915).
Bangladesh women’s team earned 4 match points and 9 game points out 5 matches.
