Textiles and Jute minister Mohammad Emaz Uddin Pramanik distributed cheques among poor and distressed families to mitigate their sufferings in Naogaon on Wednesday.
A total of 22 poor families of Manda upazila of the district got cheques worth Taka 6.20 lakhs given from Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund.
At the cheque distribution function, the minister said the present Awami League government is always a pro-poor and people friendly government.
“That’s why it (government) has been relentlessly working to bring the smile on the face of millions of poor of the country by building a beautiful Bangladesh,” he said.
He urged the people to work unitedly to establish Bangladesh as a middle income country by 2021 alleviating poverty from the country.
With Manda Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahana Akhtar Jahan in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by district Awami League leaders.
Later, the minister also joined an Eid-reunion function of the upazila.
