Cheque for Tk 28cr stolen from Ctg court’s documents file

Joint Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court has charged Adv Mohammad Aurangzeb, a member of the Chittagong District Bar Association, with stealing cheque worth Tk 27.96 crore from the case file. Adv. Aurangzeb’s Bar Certificate No. is 2012044248.
In this case, Chittagong Metropolitan Joint Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md. Zahir Uddin has lodged a written complaint with Metropolitan Sessions Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman.
According to court sources, Advocate Jobayer Mohammad Aurangzeb took the case file in the Joint Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court on Thursday (September 9) afternoon to view the Case No. -1836 /2014 document.
When he requested to see the documents even though he was not particular lawyer in that case, the court office gave the case file to the advocate after verifying that all the documents kept in the supporting documents were correct.
After looking at the documents, when the records are handed over to the office assistant, the office assistant verifies the documents and finds that there is no cheque for Tk. 27.95 cr.
The office assistant and the bench assistant informed the court judge after not finding him after much searching.
Regarding the theft of cheque, the general secretary of the bar requested the bench assistant to be proactive in recovering the cheque.
He took necessary steps to recover the stolen cheqie by using his mobile phone. After informing the general secretary of the bar, the bench assistant was sent to Muhammad Aurangzeb.
The lawyer changed his place again and again saying that he would give the cheque. Farid, a court bench assistant, recovered the missing cheque from Mohammad Aurangzeb at around 10 pm from Hotel Agrabad in the city.
Dipen Dasgupta, personal assistant to the Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge, toldmedia that a complaint was lodged with the Chittagong Metropolitan Joint Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court seeking action against him for stealing a cheque in the name of a lawyer named Mohammad Aurangzeb.
It was sent to the Chittagong District Bar Association office on Monday (September 13) for action. Mohammad Aurangzeb told that the incident took place due to misunderstanding.
That has been resolved. Imtiaz, the clerk of my chamber, stole the cheque.
I recovered the cheque and went to Peshkar’s house in Agrabad to return the cheque. General Secretary of Chittagong District Bar Association, confirmed to media persons about the written complaint against Mohammad Aurangzeb.
He told that the investigation has not been started yet.
I don’t want to say anything about the investigation. An inquiry committee will be formed in this matter, court sources said.
