The BNP labeled the Chawkbazar inferno which claimed 67 lives as a failure of the government.
“There was huge irresponsibility of the government to prevent Chawk Bazar fire. The mismanagement of the government caused loss of huge lives in the incident on Wednesday,” said BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir while talking to reporters after offering Fatiha by the graves of the language martyrs at Azimpur graveyard on February 21.
He said the government has failed to deliver on all fronts. It has proved its failure in protecting people’s lives. People are losing lives everywhere due to the government’s lack of responsibility and negligence.
The BNP leader said, “The government bothered a least about public safety and administering the country improperly as it only wants to hang onto power by any means.”
Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General sent condoled the tragic death expressing deep shock at the loss of huge lives in Chawk Bazar fire incident.
At the same time, the BNP announced two days programme to mourn the incident.
According to the programme, the party on Friday observed special prayers for the casualties in all Masjids across the country.
On Saturday, the party is to observe mourning day wearing black badge nationwide.
BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Thursday informed it in a statement.
Apart from these, BNP leaders visited the spot and talked family members of the casualties led by Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
