Chattogram to be turned into dustbin-free city soon: Mayor

Chattogram City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin said there will be no dustbins in the city area by next three or four years and after assumption of charge of City Mayor, a total of 600 dustbins were removed out of 1300 dustbins.
 Garbage, wastes will be dumped in the dump station directly after collecting from the areas . The proposed dumping of garbage to the station directly is being implemented . The city mayor disclosed it while addressing the city dwellers at a programme of ‘Face to Face Public’ representatives & the mass in observance of four years anniversary of the term of the incumbent city mayor at Madarbari Ward premises on Saturday night.
The city mayor also said all sorts of city development works will be implemented in phase and it is quite impossible to do all the tasks overnight . He also apprised that cent percent road electrification program at a cost of Tk260 crores under process.
He further informed the audience that development works worth of Tk. 2, 550 crores were spent from 1995 to 2014 whereas Tk.2700 spent during last 4 years and additional project of Tk.2300 crores taken in hand. Mayor further said total administrative expenses of the CCC is about Tk.270 crores and total municipal tax comes about Tk150 crores and Tk.123 crores MT was realized last year.
Following the kindness of the Prime Minister, the development works of the city corporation is running with special fund allocations from ECNEC.
Ward councilor of Madarbari ward Mazharul Islam chowdhury presided over it duly attended by councilor Nilu Nag and former Councilor Rekha Alam Chowdhury as special guests.
