The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Railways on Tuesday recommended taking necessary steps for the construction of rail links between Chattogram and Kolkata
The committee also suggested taking realistic programs, including bringing diversity in train tickets, to celebrate the ‘Mujib Year’ throughout the year on the occasion of birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 2020.

Committee members Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan, Asaduzzaman Noor, Md Shafiqul Azam Khan, HM Ibrahim, Gazi Mohammad Shahnawaz and Nadira Yasmin Joly attended the meeting.The committee recommended setting up body scanners and luggage scanners at Dhaka and Chattogram railway stations to ensure security of the passengers and stop transporting illegal goods.
