The Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) elections, which were postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, will be held on January 27, the Election Commission (EC) said on Monday.
It also announced the schedule for the third phase of elections to 64 municipalities setting the election date for January 30.
The commission’s Senior Secretary Md Alamgir made the announcement at a press briefing at the EC office this afternoon.
He said that no new schedule will be needed for the CCC elections as it was postponed due to the coronavirus situation. The EC had postponed the election on March 21.
Earlier, the EC on February 16 announced the schedule of the CCC elections for March 29. Electioneering had started across the city since March 9.
Meanwhile, Alamgir said third phase elections to municipalities will be held on January 30. A total of 64 municipalities will go for voting in phases.
The last date for submitting nomination papers is December 30. The returning officers will scrutinise nomination papers on January 3, and the last date for withdrawal of candidacy is January 10.
Twenty-five municipalities will go for polls on December 28 in the first phase and 61 municipalities will go for vote in the second phase on January 15.
