Brahmanbaria Correspondent :At least five people were injured when two compartments of Dhaka-bound inter-city train ‘Chattala Express’ derailed at Puniout rail gate near Brahmanbaria Rail Station on Friday afternoon.The train was coming from Chittagong. The rail communications of Chittagong with capital Dhaka and Sylhet remained suspended for several hours due to the derailment.Brahmanbaria Railway Station Master Mohidur Rahman said that two bogies of ‘Chattala Express’ veered off the tracks in the area around 4:15pm that left five passengers injured.”Train movement by up line remained suspended, but trains were running by the down line,” he said. But, the reason behind the accident could not be known yet.On information, a relief train from Akhaura started for the spot to conduct salvage operation.Meanwhile, it was the second train accident in Brahmanbaria in a span of one week.Last Saturday, a commuter train derailed at Gangasagar of Akhaura upazila evening, halting train communication on Dhaka- Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet routes. On Thursday night, the railway communication with Dhaka from Sylhet and Chittagong was also snapped for about seven hours when Sylhet bound passenger train Kalni Express was derailed near Ghorashal station in Narsingdi.
