A court of Feni on Tuesday accepted the chargesheet against SM Siraj-Ud-Doula, the Principal of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, who is now in the jail in the case filed over sexually harassing his student Nusrat Jahan Rafi.
Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Mamunur Rashid accepted the chargesheet and fixed July 17 for indictment hearing.
Shah Alam, Investigation Officer of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), submitted the 271-page chargesheet on July 3. According to case details, Siraj-Ud-Doula sexually harassed Nusrat in his office room on March 27. The victim’s mother filed the case the next day.
On April 6, Nusrat was set afire on the roof of an examination centre, allegedly by people loyal to the principal, who was arrested and subsequently suspended after the case was filed.
Nusrat died on April 10 at Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s Burn unit.
