A court here on Tuesday accepted the chargsheet against Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader Badrul Alam in a case filed for trying to kill college girl Khadija Akhter.
Soraban Tahura, Additional Chief Magistrate of Sylhet court, accepted the chargesheet and handed the case over to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court. The court also fixed November 29 for the next hearing of the case, said Zedan Al Musa, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police.
Police submitted the charge-sheet against Badrul Alam on November 8. Earlier on October 5, Badrul Alam confessed to his crime before a Sylhet court. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Soraban Tahura recorded Badrul’s statement under section 164. On October 3, Khadija, a 2nd year Degree student of Sylhet Govt Women’ s College, was hacked by Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) unit BCL leader Badrul Alam on her way home from MC College following the refusal of his proposal for having an affair with him.
Hearing the victim’s screams, other students rescued Khadija and caught Badrul from the spot and handed him over to police after giving him a good thrashing.
