Chargesheet against twenty-two leaders and activists of Jamaat- e- Islami Bangladesh and its front organisations of Barisal city and district units accused in a sedition case was submitted on Wednesday .
After getting permission from Home Ministry Md. Shakhawat Hossain, Officer- In Charge of Barisal Kotwali police station, filed the case on August 31, 2014 night.
The case was lodged after police arrested 22 leaders and activists of JIB and its front organisations from a meeting in a rented house owned by Dr. Majed Ali at Towab Ali Khan Road of the city on August 14, 2014 evening.
Police also seized cash Taka 1.75 lakh, papers of the party activities and 22 mobile phone sets from the arrestees.
In the case police alleged that the arrestees holding conspiracy meeting to topple the government and foil state programme of National Mourning Day of August 15 arranged by ruling Awami League and other political parties and socio-cultural organizations in different parts of the city.
Inspector Ataur Rahman, OC kotwali (investigation), submitted the charge sheet after investigation at the chief metropolitan magistrate court of Barisal on Wednesday.
The charge sheeted accused were Advocate Moazzem Hossain Helal, city Amir, Bazlur Rahman Bacchu, Nayebe Amir, Zahir Uddin Md. Babar, secretary, Matiur Rahman, assistant secretary of city unit, Mizanur Rahman, Abdur Rouf, Jainul Abedin, Abul Kashem, Abul Kalam, Shajahan Siraz, Mostafizur Rahman, Rafikul Islam, Mahfuzur Rahman, Saiful Islam, Ismail Hosen Bepari, Rashel Laskar, Shah Alam Hawladar, Shamim Kabir, Abdus Sattar, Motiur Rahman, and Moazzem Hossain, activists of city and district units of JIB and its front organisations. All of the accused are now enjoying bail getting from higher court.
